Riana was invited as an elite guest to a prestigious function that was hosted by Absa and Shoprite to support and honour woman they believe are leaders and role models to the community.  The morning consisted of talks and presentations by prominent female leaders in order to inspire and motivate their good work this far.  Well done Riana, you are an inspiration to us all.  Keep living your dream…you do it well!

PS- Riana also completed a course in providing ‘service excellence’ to visitors during the 2010 Soccer W

The white lion cub -Acinonyx!

Amy the caracal!

Furry Friends

Riana has bought her first white lion cub and he is just over 2 weeks old.  His name is Acinonyx – let’s explain.  Acinonyx Jubatus is the scientific name for a cheetah.  We already have a lion here called Jubatus.  Jubatus and the new arrival, Acinonyx, have the same father and that’s how we chose the name Acinonyx!

Acinonyx (lion) + Jubatus (lion) = Acinonyx Jubatus (scientific name of a cheetah)

Also new to Cheetah Experience is Amy, a caracal!  She has been here longer than Acinonyx and although smaller in size, she gives him a run for his money.  The two are already friends and spend quite a bit of time together!

November Visits Peter Caldwell…

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Little November, one of our smaller cheetahs, travelled to Pretoria after Riana received a permit for him to undertake the journey.  The reason for this is that no-one could really give us a clear answer as to what exactly was wrong with him.  Peter Caldwell is a world-renowned cheetah specialist and Riana and Rene were privileged to have had the opportunity to spend almost a whole day picking at his brain.  The result is that November has been correctly diagnosed, we have better hands-on information about breeding with the big cats in captivity and he put our minds at ease and gave clarity about a lot of ‘hanging queries’ that have been floating around lately.

Next week we have a few more animals that shall undergo further testing to prove to the interested parties that everything at Cheetah Experience is just the way it should be and maybe even a little better.
