It’s 2010…lots is happening… the Soccer World Cup being a major attraction in SA so we are busy upgrading our facilities at Cheetah Experience so that we can accomodate the excited masses.
By the time 2009 ended, we were all exhausted. So much happened in such a short time and as I haven’t been updating regularly I’m not quite sure where to start!
The 3 leopard cubs are 5 months old and in beautiful condition. They have been placed in their own enclosure. Xena and Mafusa, the cheetahs, are together in a camp where Mafusa still spends a large part of his day trying to impress Xena..some things never change. Bibi, the cheetah without a tail, and Jubatus, Angie and Achilles (3 lions) roam the main yard together. Bibi, likes to be on her own while the lazy lions stretch out and catch up on some ‘zzzz’ under the palm trees. Oschgosh and Orlando the 3 months tiger cubs are happy. Oschgosh has a slight fracture in his leg so he has to rest it- quite a challenge! Thatu, Riana’s new 3 month old cheetah cub rules the roost inside the house along with Jack and Chillie the 3 month old Caracals. There are 3 cheetah cubs still in quarantine along with Lilo a Caracal. Also outside in a small enclosure are 3 white lion cubs, a white tiger cub and a brown tiger cub. The house is busy, buzzing and brings much joy, love and fulfillment to those who spend time there. The lions 3 bigger lions look sorward to their daily swim in the dam each afternoon. The wolves are happy too…more approachable. Kitana, the one-legged Serval spent some time in the house as she got a bit lonely and stopped eating- typical female! But she is back outside in her new enclosure.
This year we want to involve international schools with raising funds for our very own Animal Hospital, we want to extend existing enclosures and we also hope to get all out vet accounts into credit!
Fiela, Riana’s love, is slightly darker in colour…she seems to be rather proud, she looks a little bigger from the back… is she trying to tell us something? It’s a pity we don’t speak ’ Cheetah’.
